It exposes the artifice of their attempt at image manipulation and pinpoints those things we should be attacking it on: focus on painting them as unhip, unsexy, undangerous, and humorless.
Also, this: “[D]on’t ever wear shorts. Serious men in serious situations are not wearing shorts.” But people like wearing shorts. Shorts are a popularist fashion. "Don't be a shorts Nazi" is an excellent way to recruit people away from their side and make them unhip and humorless. It's also a crack in the dudebro alt-right faction alliance; criticizing the wearing of cargo shorts by what's usually presented as liberal/feminist-aligned media is already an anger-inducing meme on reddit/chan-type sites. Transferring that rage to Nazis will help diminish their support among the casuals. |
