Memories of Kurt Gödel

quote [ Kurt Gödel was unquestionably the greatest logician of the century. He may also have been one of our greatest philosophers. When he died in 1978, one of the speakers at his memorial service made a provocative comparison of Gödel with Einstein … and with Kafka. ]

Logician, mathematician, and philosopher.

Gödel is that perfect example of the fine line between genius and madness -- the two incompleteness theorems are incredible (even if I understand very little of the formal logic), but the dude starved to death because he refused to eat anything that wasn't cooked by his wife due to fear of being poisoned.

And he wouldn't cook anything for himself, either?

Again, he was afraid of being poisoned.

Ok, so he was crazy.

Or just that bad of a cook. I've known worse.
