I was bummed this never got picked up, but I'm more bummed that they didn't let Metalocalypse have it's final season.

Also, is The Venture Bros. still a thing? It takes so long between seasons I'm never sure if its actually still being made or on indefinite hiatus.

I googled around, and apparently is was cancelled because of $$$. The pilot was expensive to make (which makes sense, it's very polished, which is partly why it's so good) and they didn't think they'd have enough budget to do a full series. It does seem like a good candidate to be bought up by a streaming service. Every so often it gets mentioned again and a whole bunch of people are disappointed that it wasn't made into a full series / epic saga.

Venture Bros is still a thing. Coming up on the 15th anniversary of the pilot, and season 7 will happen at some point. They announced the start of production earlier this year. So... maybe by the end of 2018, but 2019 might be more realistic.

If you have not watched the first 49 episodes of season 1, I suggest the next time you are sitting around bored with a friend and want to laugh your arse off you give it a go.

I remember seeing the ads for this with the Christopher Lee-sounding voiceover and really wanting an adult, non-comedic, Conan type cartoon. So I was a little disappointed that this wasn't that, since it was obviously played for laughs, but it was still good.

(is there any western animation for adults that's not comedy? like since... heavy metal?)

It's... ok. One of the best opening credits sequences ever, but, while it's the best anime I've ever watched, that is not high praise from me. Something about either the dialogue being originally japanese or the style of voice acting, I dunno, but I can never get into them.
