Man dies at Burning Man arts and music festival after running into flames

quote [ Authorities investigate death of Aaron Joel Mitchell, 41, who broke through two-layer security perimeter; a toxicology report is pending ]

A literal burning man at Burning Man. Now taking bets as to what he was on at the time.

Can't decide if this guy is better suited by a Darwin award nomination or a David Caruso tagline.

And yes, we are joking about a tragedy, but you're not browsing the Red Cross or WorldVision websites right now are you?

I'd say the cause of death was...

*sunglasses*

In the spring, the playa will be rich and fertile.

To be pedantic, he did not die at Burning Man. He sustained life threatening burns while at Burning Man, was medevaced to UC Davis hospital burn center, and died there of his injuries the following day.

... and damn, that's a horrific picture. We see that kind of imagery all the time in our entertainment(!), but this one is real.

But seriously, they haven't done a full tox screen but they said that he definitely wasn't drunk.

The pic where he's scampering into the fire with the fireman chasing after him is absolutely mesmerizing. Fair winds, my insane brother.

The older I get the more I feel like doing something like that at multi-day festivals. 70,000 people for days on end would be an utter nightmare.

The younger version of me really like multi-day festivals.

One thing is sure, it will affect the future burning man festivals. No more freedoms of the yonder days.

i just want to state the simple fact that burning man got a lot more dangerous after they banned the guns.

During the years there was a live gun range there, I don't seem to recall anyone dying
