Vincent will be best remembered as rival crime boss Phil Leotardo in the HBO series The Sopranos, Rolling Stone's pick for The Greatest TV Show of All Time. Vincent's character tormented James Gandolfini's Tony Sopranos over the show's final two seasons, with Leotardo's gruesome death the last murder shown on the series. ] One of the great character actors, he seemed to be in every modern mafia-based movie.

A good actor who I thought managed to personalize his roles and make them believable despite the frequent similarity of character type. Despite seeing that same face on so many other gangsters I still formed a deep and personalized hatred for Phil Leotardo. The man had craft.
I hope reality gave Mr. Vincent a gentler exit than his screen personas received. |
