DNC shake-up, longtime party officials ousted

quote [ Several long-serving DNC members who opposed Tom Perez’ election as chair were removed from key posts on the eve of the party's Las Vegas meeting. ]

Surprised? If you are, boy have I got some other establishment routines to sell you.

I dreamed about Trump last night.

I dreamed that I was a journalist sent to interview him.

After the obligatory "But I'm naked!" dream sequence, I was lent a pair of the Pope's underpants (don't ask) and ushered into the meeting room, where I sat down at a table with other journalists to listen to Trump.

"But I'm not a journalist!" I realised. I decided to just write down whatever he said, which went fine until a nearby North Korean journalist got angry and wanted to wrestle me.

His NK-fu failed him though, leading to him experiencing an "everything I was told was a lie!" moment. Was it an honest revelation, or part of a deeper plot? I didn't know, but advised him not to discuss it with other North Koreans.

When I got back to the table, I found that Trump had been playing with my iPad, pushing it around the table and the screen was badly scratched. I told him to sit quietly while I tried to fix it with copious amounts of cleaning-fluid.

Then I woke up.

I like to think that it all made as much sense as anything that has happened recently in the waking world.

Hmmm who to choose between. The Nazis-light or Republicans-light?

8 years of republican light wasn't too bad. Not ideal but seems to be working out better than Nazi-light.

It is unsettling to think someone would find that a difficult choice.
lilmookieesquire said @ 9:25pm GMT on 19th Oct
It’s not the choice. It’s the drift.

In other news about Democrats (which is being ignored by the MSM for whatever reason) the Senate has opened an inquiry into Russian bribes. Nope, not THAT one (that has turned up nothing). It's an actual money trail back to the Clinton foundation and Obama administration.

I'd be interested to hear your opinion on the shakeup, though.

Can't tell for sure who is winning the fight. It looks like the 3rd way is in firm control of the DNC. I looks like the peace treaty is over. Now will the DNC be the party organizing point or will it be our revolution? Only 2018 will tell

I think this means that the DNC money will be spent in the cities and they will abandon the purple parts of the map and once again go for the imaginary swing voters and fail to realize that millennials are becoming swing voters.

If it is what it looks like it is a sure way to lose. The question is where will the money go. $27 @ a time takes a lot of people...this wasn't a good thing for progressives but the fight is ongoing and the winner won't be known for over a year.

I guess the answer to the question I made in my earlier post is yes...they can be that stupid.

Seen this comment of Reddit...pretty much sums it up.

Apparently donors are more important than voters.

Would make more sense to concentrate on overcoming the voter suppression, which is what actually made the difference in the republican win.
bbqkink said @ 2:11am GMT on 20th Oct
That is only going to happen in the courts. That's why O put Eric Holder on it. But you are right about the effect.

I am interested in what you think about the end of the truce. Political allegiances are changing but there are just not enough black women to make this coalition work without the progressive wing.

This sets things up for a hell of a primary fight in a lot of places.
HoZay said @ 3:00am GMT on 20th Oct
Isn't Perez is supposed to shake things up? Any time that happens, it's easy to write a story by interviewing those who got shook out. It's only the end of the truce if you think it is.

Black women are the heart of the party. That's why the Rs go to such trouble to make it harder for them to vote. The progressives, at least around here, have to be begged to even vote, cuz they're too pure for actual politics, and think things like voting rights is identity politics.

shake things up?
Well ya but this looked like a purge

The removal and demotion of a handful of veteran operatives stood out, as did what critics charge is the over-representation of Clinton-backed members on the Rules and Bylaws Committee, which helps set the terms for the party's presidential primary,

This sounds way too familiar, to me at least...the 3rd way making the rules again.

And Black women are at the heart of the the 3rd way coalition, but for the life of me I don't know why or how, but it is. And ya you are right this is the test of all of this organizing that started the day after the election and it all depends like always on turnout. depending on young voters especially in off year election is scary to say the least...if this last election didn't teach them nothing will.

Somebody introduced a resolution. It was voted down. You're trying pretty hard to make the Purge be a real thing.
