Professional critics liked it, starwars nerds hated it, Mike and Jay (and Rich) pretty much call it for what it is: a starwars movie so desperate to drag itself out of the starwars playpen it shits on everything they bothered to set up in the last film.

For the starwars nerd perspective, you can hit up the Angry Joe Top ten reasons why the last jedi made me angry as representative.

I dunno, I really enjoyed it. I'm also 45, so plenty old enough to have a lot of love for the originals.

Also, these guys shit on everything, pretty much, in my experience. They annoy me. Their critiques are insightful, but they pretty much hate EVERYTHING.

I'm old enough to like ewoks.

That's a lie.

No one liked ewoks.

No one.

I enjoy aspects of Red Letter Media, they can be funny... but this is dead on. Of course their entire brand is based on complaining about movies, so there isn't much to do if they don't do that.

Patiently waiting for Cinema Sins to do their TLJ video.

I loved it. I loved the flashy pulp bits, I loved the mild deconstruction of people chasing legends, God help me I even loved the porgs most of the time.

This movie is completely different from proper Star Wars. In this movie the Republic is struggling for even a no-win tie, the force-user goes and trains under a reluctant recluse then rushes off early to fight the big bad in a battle she can't win, the others go off to get help in a flashy city from someone who winds up betraying them, and the whole end note is "well this sucks, what do we do now?" Meanwhile in a classic like Empire Strikes Back they... wait...

I liked it. There were some flaws, mainly in the pacing. (I like long movies, but this still felt too long. Could have been about 10 min trimmed with little bits here and there IMO.)

It wasn't the movie I expected, but I think it's better for that. Pretty much every part with Luke worked fantastically for me.

I didn't like that they killed him off in such a dumb way. Also not sure how ghosts can give people mirror dice.

It felt like an evolution of how Obi-Wan died, bringing Luke full circle.

The dice faded away too, so they were a projection just like he was.
