Eh, color me ambivalent. The best seasons of Game of Thrones aligned with the best books, and once the show left the novels behind, the plot became insanely predictable and trope-ridden. I guess what I'm saying is that the ability to take an existing great story/characters and make a great show out of it isn't the same as being able to come up with a show with a great story/characters on your own.

Yeah, that's my view as well. Everything they've done to the show post-books has been borderline fanfiction. Yes, it delivers crowd-pleasing moments, but the narrative has basically stopped making any sense.
Even if they are hitting GRRM's plot points, they've done so in a very unconvincing and inconsistent manner. I predict that their future projects will be similar without a strong guide to follow. |

I would not at all be opposed to a Jessica Jones/Luke Cage/etc style Star Wars TV series.

I'm honestly pretty meh on this one. backstabbing and tits with a star wars coat of paint. That or Star Wars does politics 2nd attempt.
