Just read that digital film archives also rely on magnetic tapes.

In '91, I used to work (via a high school program) at Northrup. Part of my duties included running magnetic tape through a cleaning machine (where the data would be scrubbed and the tape could be reused). It baffles my mind that ANYONE is still using magnetic tape at this point. I would have thought it would have been phased out before the turn of the century.

Started my IT career in the 70's as a tape jockey..... People don't realize how much tape is still in use, or stored in the salt mines somewhere....
