Arizona Sets 8' Distance Limit On Recording Police Officers

quote [ House Bill 2319, sponsored by Rep. John Kavanagh, makes it illegal for anyone within 8 feet of law enforcement activity to record police. ]

Sounds like the original version of the bill was set for 15', but it was lowered. I am certain we will see this bill replicated in other states, and then the distance increased overtime.

So if you are filming an officer and they advance on you and close the gap to under 8' can they arrest you? They could at least use it to force you to retreat away from the other officer that you're really interested in filming.

probably. guess we will find out. for several years, it's been the goal of republicans to make it illegal to film the police. im sure we will see it made illegal next presidency

Of course they will take advantage of this rule.

They already play Disney songs whenever there are protestors they are trying to get rid of so their videos get struck-down on social media.

I'm not surprised Arizona was the first state to do this. It will absolutely be abused as much as possible by police.
