If you have a car-centric lifestyle (by necessity), then getting rid of your fridge would mean more car trips, which would be net negative.
It's certainly interesting to ponder our dependence on refrigeration, but I feel like refrigeration would be among the last things society would sacrifice. It just doesn't draw much power in the big picture, and the food waste and carbon dependent eating patterns (like tropical fruit year round) isn't a necessary byproduct of refrigeration, just allowed by it. |

Just the hygiene aspects of refrigeration are well worth it, I would say.
