The role of the mouth in the beauty of the face

quote [ Once it was done, my dentist paused to look at what he had done. Apparently my molar, which had been fairly unremarkable above the gum line, had enormous roots—simply gigantic. Dr. Bhattacharya said he had never seen anything like it. He couldn’t get over it, and wanted to know where I was from. ]

Wheel-powered drills and 1950s Warszawa spy stories.

Thumb drill is US though, as illustrated in the reissue as a Guardian piece.

This strikes with me.
I am missing 2 molars and have several franken-root-canal-crowns.
I'm not saying I am hideous to look at (I hope) or even rough looking but damn I would feel a lot better with AFFORDABLE dental care.
I do not. Also it's not like I led a dental hell life like Lovecraft.
I brush my teeth.
Anyway I had a dental emergency (surprise!) and the dentist, very concerned for my gaping maw told me she could outline the procedure and set out a cost estimate.
Are you familiar with The Pogues?
A fella named Shane?
Well my "procedure" would have taken around 2 and a half years (barring any possible cock-ups) and cost slightly over $43thousand Canadian.
my teeth are not MacGowan bad by any stretch of the imagination.
If I had unlimited cash. probably. I mean better appearance plus fixing all those little problems. better self confidence. better self confidence better preserved appearance. .
That was far too confessional.
