This seems like sloppy reasoning to me. While there may be a link, I don't see why that link is necessarily A causes B. Instead of killing animals making people less afraid of death, it also makes sense that people that are less afraid of death might be more comfortable with killing animals. Or that both are caused by some third mortality related factor.

Have they completely ignored my theory about the Venusian brain worms again?

When I wrote, "third mortality related factor," I was actually thinking, "Venusian brain worms."

That's what they want you to think.

No. It's what they want me to think.

On the other hand my own experience of death-related anxiety compels me to treat other beings with greater compassion. Maybe hunting for sport helps sociopathic types deal with death-related anxiety.

Unless you're a sociopath, everyone is probably afraid of death. We just keep adding layers upon layers of reasoning, distractions, and subconscious coping strategies which break down when you're up at night, bored, and the existential dread creeps in.

From indications in this thread I'm a sociopath... that isn't true by the way. I have just had to deal with friends and loved ones dieing more then most, at a younger age then most. I also don't collect stuff like most of the people I know. Everything I own can fit in my truck and a small uhaul trailer and I plan on getting rid of some things.

Are you a nomad?

Nope, I live about 40 miles from where I grew up.
