Okay, this might be unpopular as fuck...
But when it comes to who you will have sex with, you have to be allowed to say no, for whatever the fuck reason you want. I don't care if it's the most sexist, racist, "makes flat earth arguments look great" reason. It's her body, she should get to do what she wants with it without a mob of people giving her shit as it doesn't hurt anyone in any case. |

In the industry, straight porn get frequent STI testing and requires no condom use. In gay porn (male-male), condom is required but no testing.
So I get why she didn't want to do the scene. |

Oh sure, I am not saying she was unreasonable or wrong. I am saying even if she was, how can this be construed anything but mob-enforced rape, or at the very least peer pressure meant to try to make someone have sex with someone they don't want to?

It gets complicated the minute performing sexual services for money is on the table. If the audience doesn't want to financially support a performer for what they believe, who they fuck, or how they fuck, then that exerts pressure. If your welfare is dependent on that money, then you're seeing coercion. Its obvious when its someone like Max Hardcore, but that spectre is there for every porn scene.
Sure you can say why not walk away, but that ignores the stigma that's attached from working in porn. Its a gap in the CV at the very least, at worst you just get shut out. If you have to work to live, and your stuck fucking as work, then the mundane exploitation millions of people live through now has that patina of rape. |

Learned this earlier today, and it hurt - she was one of my favorites. I later found out the shit that led up to it and it just pissed me off. Regardless, she'll be missed, and it's like my whole word view has been knocked askew.

A number of my initial thoughts on this make me think less of myself. While I work those out, I would be curious if anyone knows of any statistics on jobs with the high correlated deaths (depression, murder, alcoholism or drug abuse etc rather than death on the job.)

Military. To be precise, veterans.

Air traffic control, military service, farmers, lumberjacks, and construction workers all have higher levels of suicide than the median

I think medical doctors are always on top of the lists, too.

Sometimes it's hard to see people as more than the sum of their parts when you spend all day elbow deep in the parts.
