I ran across an entire CONTINENT in VR with an Omni-Direction Treadmill

quote [ Hello! Today I challenge myself to run across the entire Skyrim map from bottom to top.. entirely in VR with an Omnidirectional Treadmill. Total distance is very approximately calculated to 13 miles, give or take a few, all in one go. This was one of the harder VR challenges I have done, especially because of the nature of a Katwalk C. The real question is, what breaks first? Me or the Omnidirectional treadmill? ]

I would very much like to try one of these.

Ok. I get the allure of the tech. I understand people need to do this sort of shit to get through issues with the tech. I also understand how it would be attractive to gamers, but really?

I'd rather run through the woods hands down than do this crap. Besides, that omnidirectional treadmill is tiny. You can't even get half a stride in. . .

It seems these last couple of generations want desperately to escape reality. And I can't blame them.

I mean, the hardware isn't actually meant for full bore running on. It's for walking around virtual worlds, adding an even deeper sense of presence to virtual experiences. I did one of those The Void Star Wars VR experiences a couple years ago and the real world interactions mixed with the VR still leaves me thinking back to some of the stuff we did as if it were real. Like I vividly remember being in a shoot out with storm troopers while my friend attempted to unlock a futuristic door. Crazy shit.
