That’s about right. All I remember about Fruit Stripe gum is the bitter rubbery flavor that remained after the nominal flavor wore off.

That's because it was the last gum sweetened with sugar instead of artificial sweeteners. Real sugar can't be chewed and keep it's taste very long; most gums use those zero calorie things that aren't actually digested so you can taste them for a while.

According to the ingredients list, it was packed with corn syrup.

I was born middle 80s, and have no idea what this gum is. I grew up with a bubblegum with a polar bear doing a one handed handstand on it.

Guess I might be too Swedish?

the amount of stores that must see it here must be small.
But then up here to get Boo-berry etc you have to pay $10 or so.
