Julian Assange may be willing to surrender to British police this Friday

quote [ In a statement issued by WikiLeaks on Twitter, Assange said: “Should the UN announce tomorrow that I have lost my case against the United Kingdom and Sweden, I shall exit the embassy at noon on Friday to accept arrest by British police as there is no meaningful prospect of further appeal. ]

And there I thought he would be waiting for a US government that offers him a deal. Or did something in Sweden change drastically and I didn't hear about it?

I suppose a few years as a guest in a single building can feel like prison, even if that building is the embassy of a country sympathetic to you. At the very least, it will set things in motion again, after years of stalemate.

I was going to set up a followup post tomorrow, but you and the BBC beat me to it. Nice job!

...in retrospect, if I keep in mind the other meaning of the acronym "BBC", maybe I shouldn't be so happy to be beaten by it.
