I can totally understand why you might think that, and you might end up being right, but I'm really rather ambivalent about the whole movie. The book was an okay read, but it was mostly nostalgia porn that I don't have any sort of strong feelings about. Ya know? It's not like with Dark Tower where I named my cat after a character or anything.

Plus, I feel pretty disconnected from the whole mainstream VR community that's got a collective hard on for this movie. Besides hype about new hardware, we've got much different interests and reasons for wanting VR. Like you've seen how my posts go down here, my thoughts have yet to have any sort of resonance with others. Part of that is my esoteric interests and part of it is because Facebook's foray in the VR arena poisoned the well of discourse. There are certain concerns like privacy and data collection that you can't talk about now without being written off as an Oculus hater by about a third of the community.

There are certain concerns like privacy and data collection (which are important topics given VR's inherent intrusiveness) that you can't talk about now without being written off as an Oculus hater by about a third of the community.
