indeed. there is a law in France called the "Coastal Act" (Loi littoral) to prevent private appropriation of all streams, rivers and lakes and oceans shores. basically all coasts are considered public space. even if you own the land that touches the sea, you must leave public access through your private land to people.

Part of me can somewhat appreciate what the guy did.
Why? Spent a week at the outer banks a few weeks back and even on the less used portions of the beach there was plenty of litter and shit in the sand. |
