How tf is this news in TYOOL 2025? Its been like this since GoodReads inception, ostensibly for letting folks leave reviews from beta reads and ARCs.
I hope they are prepared for the 5-star reviews for books without finalized titles to also be removed. |

I mean, you can look at a lot of the genre fiction, particularly sci-fi, fantasy, romance/romantasy and see the hype train.
Rothfuss would be the biggest one that comes to mind. |

It ought to be pretty simple to have user reviews turned off until the books' street dates. I guess Goodreads has some incentive to allow as many reviews as possible, fraudulent or not.

I don't know why they don't require proof of an ARC copy to allow reviews ahead of releast dates. People will review/rate a book based on how much they *think* they will like it years before its even out.
