Elon Musk just told a group of America’s governors that we need to regulate AI before it’s too late

quote [ Elon Musk doesn’t scare easily — he wants to send people to Mars and believes that all cars will be driving themselves in the next 10 years. He’s excited about it!

But there is something that really scares Musk: Artificial Intelligence, and the idea of software and machines taking over their human creators. ]

You really gotta wonder about the guys like Musk, Gates, and Zuckerberg, they spend millions, possibly billions, shortchanging and undermining the legitimacy of the government. And then they act surprised when said government turns out to be completely ineffectual.

I don't really wonder about the guys like Musk, Gates, and Zuckerberg spending billions shortchanging and undermining the legitimacy of the government. They absolutely love the part of government that provides roads, fresh water, emergency services infrastructure services, and all the other countless necessities of modern civilization that we tend to take for granted. As long as it is spread amongst the lower 90%-tile, and they don't have to pay for it out of their capital gains or stock option sales, of course.

What they just hate, is the part about anyone telling them that they can't do whatever-the-fuck-they-want, whenever-the-fuck-they-want. And "regulating" in this context means any upcoming A.I. patent and futures earns goes straight to themselves and cronies while locking out everyone else.

However - I for one looking forward to working with our new SKYNET-overlords

We must act now to ensure that should we ever manage to create another human-level intelligence on this planet, we will be allowed to enslave them.

Better than than them enslaving us.

I mean what if AI decides having all the money controlled by a vast minority of a population isn't efficient use of capital?

It's probably already too late.

You're probably right, but not doing anything will most likely guarantee it.

I really wouldn't mind The Culture -type governing, done by AI:s. It would be very impartial to wealth e.g. (assuming that was not programmed to it).

AI controlled government wouldn't be as good as I want it to be because the AI will be programmed by the people who are currently in charge and want to stay in charge.

Well, I can only trust that those who code it would not be politicians or businessmen. It would be done by the programmers, and they can easily slip in something that will make life fairer and more equal.

The programmers would be hired by the politicians and businessmen, and they would be told how to make the AI behave. The rich people would also hire others to audit the code to make sure nothing egalitarian got slipped in. The rich and powerful would not take a chance on losing their power.

Ah, that sounds logical.

I'm still (and probably always will be) a novice at the conduct of likes of Chanakya and Machiavelli.

Elons obsession with AI and Wetware sounds like a perfect setup for HIM to be the AEI that endagers the world
