I registered with BMI this year and am listed as a songwriter for a song I co-wrote. Under current law, I believe no one can play it without permission until 2113. If I reach average lifespan I'll be dead by about 2061.

Yeah, I definitely think 100 years is a bit much for copyright, but this certainly does seem like better than what we had before! Plus, shoutout to my state's senator, Ron Wyden!

A step toward a freer direction. So much music remains unplayable without paying exhorbident fees to obtain rights to play (pre-recorded or live covers) from the big 3 music licensers, BMI, ASCAP, and SESAC.
