I was curious to what the response was going to be, because Smith himself describes himself as a big miramax guy, they did a lot of his stuff.

"There are few people in Hollywood who’ve profited more from their association with Harvey Weinstein than Kevin Smith."

And I'm certain that he had no idea that Harvey Weinstein was a career predator.

It was such a very tightly held secret.

I think Tarantino put it best, quoted as "I knew enough to do more than I did."

And everyone near Weinstein, anyone with close working ties to the company, would've known enough to do more than they did, too.

Ok, part of my take on this is colored by the fact that in every video I've seen of Smith he's come across as a self-important, self-aggrandizing man-child, but this gesture of his rings hollow. Announcing very loudly that he's doing the right thing, without any admission that he previously did the wrong thing, seems somehow exactly typical.

It's possible he was not on "confidential" terms with him, but Smith must have heard all the stories. Everyone must have.

Now if only he could start making decent movies again...
