I'm 45 years old and I can occasionally manage to stand up or sit down without groaning too much.

Try hooking onto a race car to accelerate yourself to standing speed then unhook and follow through standing using the car's slipstream.

That’s not even safe at all.

Didn't Mythbusters try this and found out that this is magnitudes easier than biking through the wind? So much so that I don't think should count at all.

1: There's separate records for free streaming.

2: God, you're a wet blanket.

Look, if a record isn't set while going uphill both ways, it shouldn't count. Especially skiing, they should just call it standing!

Or Brucestanding, as the case may be.

On a related note, it was a fast day all around.
Kenya's Eliud Kipchoge smashed the marathon world record by clocking a time of two hours one minute 39 seconds in Berlin.
Is this Origin Story time?

Kind of exciting to think I'll probably be around to see a sub two hour marathon. It's like our own generation's four minute mile.
lilmookieesquire said @ 4:21pm GMT on 18th Sep
Jesus. 26 miles in two hours...
That’s a mile every 4.6 minutes... for two hours.
I think my fastest mile was like 6.5 minutes in Jr. High.

But to keep your 6.5 minute time in perspective, miles were much longer back in your day, and only measured uphill. To say nothing of the fierce winds, all the tumbleweeds, and how you could actually buy things for a nickle.

Yeah, I remember doing a sub 6min mile once and being really excited. That was once. I started training with a buddy again and I'm trying to get under a 13min mile with a pack. It is not going very well. Times are getting down but I'm too damn old for this shit.
